Abstract
Objectives£ºThe Osan child mental health guide center(OCMHGC) has done a school mental health project to detect the children at high risk of mental health problems from eight different elemantary schools in Osan city. This research analyse and discuss the findings from survey based on K-CBCL which has applied to elementary school students between 2000 and 2003.

Methods£ºAll first grade student from eight elementary schools were assessed with the K-CBCL, also Demographic data, and information on the economic status have been gathered. The survey was taken every April from 2000 to 2003, and 4497 children were participated.

Results£º 3.6% of boys and 3.4% of girls turned out to be in the high risk group. Index of year 2000 showed the highest in somatic complaint, immaturity, thought problems and delinquent behavior, most indexes of year 2003 were lower than that of year 2000. The index of problems on internalization and externalization were significantly lower in 2003 than 2001. The overall results of total survey scales were lower in 2003 than 2001 and 2002.

Conclusion£º Because these results were drawn from a relatively short period of time, it is difficult to consider them as a prolonged tendency, however we cannot eliminate the potential positive effects of high education level and economic stabilization on children¡¯s development. Persistent educations on parents and teachers provided in Osan city seem to act as important factors influencing children¡¯s emotional and behavioral development.
